Out with the old, in with the new

You might remember awhile back I mentioned I was registered to run my first 5k (EEEEK!)...well....that 5k is finally nearly upon me and I've been trying to do a bit of pre-race conditioning. I've never been a runner, but I've definitely improved significantly over the last year, so I'm looking forward to pushing myself to see what I'm really capable of.

As part of my training, I realized my old beloved asics just weren't getting the job done anymore. They're great sneakers, but I've worn them down and there are actually small holes next to my pinky toes. I really wanted to get new sneakers before the 5k, but now being on the road all of the time it was making it difficult to make that a priority. Finally, I forced myself to go today so that I could have a whole week breaking them in. I did 3 miles on the treadmill in them tonight and they felt great!!

Before....

After!

They're actually just the exact same sneaker. I went to my local running store that specializes in gait analysis and sneaker fit, and we determined that these are just an all around great shoe for me. And I'm pumped that they come in a cooler design this time around!!!

I don't know why...I just love the way new sneakers feel! They always really re-ignite my passion for working out!
